Born in India and educated in a Middle Eastern convent, my formative years unfolded amid the vibrant neighbourhoods of Queens and Brooklyn, New York. The stark contrasts in societies and cultures, and the journey of navigating life while preserving my Indian roots, deeply inspire my artwork. Through textured creations, I offer poignant glimpses into moments spanning various epochs. My art gracefully embodies a profound fusion of cultures, delving into themes of identity, survival, and assimilation. By harmonizing paint, paper, photography, typography, and foliage, my pieces extend a heartfelt invitation to explore the intricate facets of belonging amidst life's ever-changing nature.

I hold an Associates Degree in Art and Advertising Design from New York City Technical College. After working as a graphic designer for over two decades, the pandemic provided a conduit to reconnect with fine art. I started on this path of painting with a purpose to serve and give back through art, because art heals. I have been fortunate to contribute art for Joseph Brant Hospital Burlington Artscape Fundraiser, Dundas Valley School of Art Annual Art Auctions, Gallea.ca and Breakfast Club of Canada Small and Tall Artist Club Collaboration, United Way Women's United Art Auction 2022, POGO (The Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario) Art Auction 2023 and most recently RampUp 23 StopGap Foundation Annual Fundraiser.

Painting is my daily cathartic meditation to inner peace.

Q+A

How long have you been creating art?

I've possibly been creating before birth. My father is a watercolour artist, and I believe he passed down an art gene. As a child I always watched him paint, and as soon as I could hold a brush my dad encouraged me to paint! After 20 plus years of working as a graphic designer, a voice inside me inspired me to pick up a brush again to paint. Design was great, but making art has given me so much freedom to just be and create whatever feels right in the moment!

Everyone should know about

I'm a Foodie - I love everything about food - cooking, feeding, experimenting, dining. It's a wonderful outlet to express my creativity. I'm fascinated by the smells, tastes, textures, colours, flavours of global cuisines! Like art, the most important ingredient required is love - made from the heart. Just as food nourishes our body, art nourishes our spirit!

Which piece of art you've created is your favourite, and why?

Azadi series for #womanlifefreedom

Why is art important to you?

It's the lifeline that feeds my soul.
